Today's readings are particularly thrilling for me as today is the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

I was raised in a Protestant home and let me tell ya, Mary was hardly spoken of. Now that I have learned some things about Mary, I find that to be very sad. Protestants really have no theology about Mary but the Catholic Church is rich in Marian theology. We see what they do not see, and that is, among other things, that Mary is truly the Mother of God. She is also the new Eve, undoing with her "yes" to God what Eve did with her "no" to God. Now, thanks to Christ, we can be washed clean of the original sin in our souls that we are born with due to the sin of Adam and Eve. Mary is also the new Ark of the Covenant. In reading about the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament, we can learn some things about Mary. The Ark carried within it the staff of Aaron, the Scriptures, and some manna. These are symbolic of "the Way, the Truth, and the Life" which Mary carried within her. The Ark was holy. It was so important to God that anyone who even touched it, even accidentally, would die. Mary is holy indeed and worthy of our love and honor. God has created her to be this way. I never knew these things before and a whole new world opened up for me when I learned these things. To believe that Mary has such a high station, we more fully appreciate the majesty of our almighty God.

God Bless You

Love from Lisa
